I checked with YSlow tool on Firefox and clearly the HTML is taking the most of the response time. I see 1419 milliseconds (or 1.4 seconds) for just the HTML to respond with other components taking 0.04 seconds or so. This is even though the size of the HTML is 12.4k (4k gzipped). I think the delay arises in the HTML generation or in some URL rewriting on the server side. The page I checked is the finditems page here: http://www.webdna.us/founditems.dna. There's over 300k in javascript too. Not sure why there's so much.
