No luck on = connecting to MySQL 5.7
I think = MySQL made some changes to the security in 5.7. I guess WebDNA does not = support that. I was really hoping to use 5.7 since they have a great = replication system built right into the = platform.
I am able to = connect to 5.7 using TOAD from the same Windows7 = machine.

Can you connect to the external MySQL from the command = line ?
If not, then I suggest a permissions/firewall problem = at the MySQL server.
Remember to restart MySQL after changing any = settings.
1. I = reimaged my Cloud with Ubantu 14.04
2. Loaded = server WebDNA 8.2 (very easy install = BTW)
3. Created a = local mysql database
4. Then ran = all my connect strings to test

Could very well be a firewall problem, something in = the back of my head is reminded about port 3306 on standard Ubuntu = installs being blocked.
Remember to reboot after you make any config = changes.
Getting = closers. WebDNA 8.02 is installed on Ubantu = 14
WebDNA = works=E2=80=A6 but connecting to remote MySQL 5.7 is not. = Either is remote MySQL = 5.6.

The code works perfect on my Window2008 WebDNA 6.02 = server when calling an external MySQL 5.6 = server.
