texte = Hey folks, Amazon has decided that it wants to own the patents on such trivial applications as using cookies to store customer state and most recently the concept of an associates program. These are just basic coding constructs that many of us use in our e-commerce sites all the time. Their patented 1-click shopping is nothing more than using a cookie to store customer ID for later retrieval. Yet the patent office has granted them the patent and Amazon has promised to enforce it. Most recently, the patent office has granted them a patent on their associates program. What will be next? I urge everyone to sign the open letter to Amazon at the O'Reilly web site (http://www.oreilly.com/ask_tim/amazon_patent.html). If this keeps up, Amazon will hold the patent on all the innovative ways we have come to use Webcatalog in building e-commerce apps. Do you use a one-click ordering system on your site? Amazon can *shut your site down* right now.Just a heads up,Mike ------------------------------------------------------------- Brought to you by CommuniGate Pro - The Buzz Word Compliant Messaging Server.
