You can create links in NT using the POSIX tools that come with the NT Server Resource Kit; I haven't tried it but the docs do say that symbolic links can point to directories. YMMVThe issue is not likely to be the same because of where the actual file name is being resolved; on the Mac or Unix file system, I ask for file1 and the file system says oh, you mean this file over here that the other name is a pointer to. Under IIS, the web server itself parses the path information and decides what you really meant; this can mean that virtual directories can be substituted several times within IIS.> > > I'd suspect that you would not have the problems, but > > I am strongly anti-IIS/pro-WebSite. > Are you using virtual directories in conjuction with WebCat and WebSite Pro > thus pointing to a specific WebCat IIS problem? > > My guess is that they are tightening up security, and this is a bug as a > result of that increased security.Since SM cannot recreate your problems, I would suggest you turn on file listing and try and make sure that IIS is not hosing you, instead of WC. Just try and browse up the directory tree and see what path's IIS under- stands; you could also put dummy html files in each directory and try to browse to each in turn.Alternatively, you can get the NT Server Resource Toolkit and use ln -s source_file target_directory> > Robert Minor > Director of Internet Services > ------------------------------------------------------------ > Cybermill Communications > http://www.cybermill.com http://www.merchantmaker.comJohn Peacock------------------------------------------------------------- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
