texte = Sorry list ... too fast on the 'send' button without looking at the to.The general concept of having more than one WebDNA server, e.g., in a web farm configuration hitting a common WebDNA database, has been talked about before, and is an appealing configuration for obvious reasons. With the current product, clearly people have constructed mechanisms using TCPConnect/TCPSend, or by using an external database such as SQL Server that multiple web servers could hit via ODBC. While the external DB approach is simple, it costs more money in additional product licenses. We have had internal discussions in the past about how to enable this type of configuration without the need for an external database product. While haven't dismissed this as a future need, much of what we've been adding to 5.0 is 'plumbing' that we knew we can use in the future to help make this much easier to do, i.e., the new 'function' contexts and XML Web Services features can allow development of templates that form a remotable Database Server interface that is callable from multiple Web Servers ... but we had to build the drive train first. So, for now all I can say is that it remains on our radar screen, and we will discuss this further internally on how to utilize 5.0 features to accomplish this in a way that is more robust than the current means of using TCPConnect/TCPSend ... but it will be after 5.0.Phil B.------------------------------------------------------------- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
