I tried it so many time now, even with some help from BRU tech support, it doesn't do it's job as it should, or it's just way to complicated. Why can't I just restore data to an empty FW volume like Retro does? BRU likes - fast and solid UNIX tool - support for almost any tape library - client/server communication is great BRU dislikes - complicated - bootable restore failed (for me ...) - unable to backup to more than one harddisk Retro likes - easy to use - solid, if run as backupserver on sep. machine - bootable restore works - very great client backup strategy Retro dislikes - speed - no further development on Mac product - Mail reporting is poor My conclusion is, I'm back on Retrospect. We need to save 10 servers and 3 workstations. In the past I had problems saving individual servers, Retro often lost the connection to them, but since I set the network speed on the ethernetcard to 100MBit duplex fixed, this problems vanished.
