texte = Clint, We have 14 tapes loaded normally and every Friday we rotate a recent backup (usually that days backup) tape offsite. I currently have a couple of tapes with errors that need replacing so I'm currently only using 12 tapes. We have a crontab that dumps our MySQL databases nightly to flat files that are backed up during the normally backup. These exports are stored in the appropriate Monday, Tuesday. Wednesday, etc. folders and are overwritten each week. This allows us to keep MySQL running 24/7 but does require that you import any restored MySQL databases. You can restore databases from the flat files for one week but beyond that you must pull from tape.
