I'm trying to get a picture of the amount of effort we may all be duplicating and I'm looking for ideas to allow us all to work more efficiently. If we were all contributing to an open-source discussion forum, it would certainly save us all time and produce a better final result. It would also be great wor WebDNA because it would allow us to compete better with PHP. New users would be able to get a forum site up and running in WebDNA just like they can with PHP. In fact, if we were to produce ours to take advantage of things like jQuery's ThemeRoller, we would have some distinct advantages over PHP versions because some of that code is fairly old. The problem is that some programmers have put years of work into their forums. It would be asking a lot to simply hand that work over. Can we start a new discussion forum from scratch, using SubVersion control, which all programmers can contribute to? Can we find a way to fairly compensate whoever has some good starting code to get us down the road further? How important is a discussion forum to each of you?
