My personal box as been on and up since I installed Linux 4 months ago (but then again I am not serving). Excet when I recomplied my kernels (twice). On the other hand *every* mac I have *ever* seen crashes daily. More than daily... our servers are down hourly almost, the desktops are about the same.No offense I like MAC. Its my second most favorite system. If at work we had the money I would be on one. But I am stuck in WIn.Your experience is the first I have heard of, and I congradulate you. But as far as Linux...Out of ALL the people i know and I can provide names if you like, Linux only goes down when you shut it down.Security on the other hand... With a well thought out network and some attention to detail it as good as any.I have no problems with fixing problems on Linux. But then again I haven't had any :) It started out as a RH 5.0 running 2.0.31 kerrnel. And is now RH 5.1 with Kernnel 3.0.36 Around christmas it will be 5.2 with 2.2... no reinstalls just upgrading. But keep in mind I have no servers instaled no httpd, or ftpd, not sendmail, and I try to keep up with security fixes. Now that is performance that rocks! This is good though, I have never heard a MAC - Linux pro vs con discussion. MAC vs. Win Win vs. Linux.... no Linux vs. MACNow MAC running Linux... I will soon have an old powerbook running mklinuk!!! I can't wait!!!
