texte = I would like to better understand some of the important rules the search engines use in order to determine whether or not a site gets listed with them -- and of course how to get one of the best positions in their ranking. If anyone has any web sites that might help me to learn this information, I will be happy to receive them (private email is fine, thanks). In a related issue, I would like to have my home page as clean as possible, WITHOUT a lot of text placed there specifically for the search engines. This suggests that I would need a different home page for my human visitors than the home page the search engines land on ...Can anyone suggest an effective technique for making this happen? I cannot think of any effective way to do this exactly as I have described it, because it seems like it might be impossible to determine the source of a visitor reliably, but I can think of two different techniques that would seem to approach this goal:First, I would make the default page of the web site into the page which is identified as the home page by the search engines. Then I would consider using:1- A simple META-REFRESH tag on the default page which will redirect to the Human home page, or ...2- A javascript that submits a form on the default page the moment that page is loaded, with the form action taking the visitor to the Human home page.Would either of these techniques give me what I want -- without getting my sites banned from the search engines? Or does anyone else have any good suggestions for doing something similar to this? By the way, I am already considering the possibility of generating a bunch of static web pages, one per item in the catalog.db, with all the links in these pages pointing to the dynamic home page of the site. Then anyone landing on these pages (which presumably will be indexed by the search engines) will be brought back into the dynamic site instead of remaining in the static page section. Has anyone learned any useful techniques for making this work without creating unwanted problems?
