Smithmicro sells few copied of WebCatalog because it's so expensive, and it is so expensive because so few copies are sold. I don't believe Smithmicro charges more (oh, well, at least not unreasonably much more ;-) than they need to to stay in the business. I have no idea how altruistic they feel, but I can't be too stupid to realize that overcharging isn't a good marketing strategy for them at this stage.-------As for flashiness - how about a challenge to all WebDNA programmers:Who can come up with the flashiest, most sexy WebDNA based website gizmo? All scripts entered in the contest, would have to be distributed as freeware or public domain, of course, but that'd be the only requirement.(Personally I would have liked all scripts to be old-version compatible, but that's just me being selfish - as I've already mentioned I'm probably stuck with WebCat 2 (or is it 3 - I'm not sure) for quite a while.)Usefulness is definitely not an issue (or maybe most useful script should be a separate category?)There probably won't be any prizes, except for the respect you gain from your fellow programmers, of course. Come to think of it - *that* might actually be quite a valuable prize if you were allowed to boast about it on your site...What 'cha think, guys?Frank Nordberg http://www.musicaviva.com ------------------------------------------------------------- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
