I'm not in the outsourcing business, I'm doing international trade. I made a half-baked effort to try outsourcing for a while by putting that "Cheap Offshore Programming" line in my email signature on this list. But no one from the list ever hired me to do their webdna (or other) programming for them, which I'm not surprised about because webdna programmers would rather do the programming themselves than go out and sell their services. The profit potential is HUGE in the outsourcing business of course, as I'm sure you realize after having watched that CNN special or reading that Gartner article. In fact, anyone who has found it hard to maintain the same high consulting rates they used to charge 2-5 years ago has experienced the effects of outsourcing firsthand. I saw "the writing on the wall" several years ago, so 1-2 years ago I offered to partner with those who could also see what was happening in the programming world. That's when I invited everyone on this list to join me in the outsourcing business ... but no one did. Yes I know that outsourcing means losing American jobs to overseas programmers. But it's not illegal and it's not unethical, it's just the way it is. When a businessman sees an opportunity and he ignores it, he is just plain stupid. Maybe I've been stupid by not pursuing my original efforts to develop an outsourcing business, but I did have other business interests to keep me busy, so in that respect I had an 'excuse' for ignoring this great opportunity for a while. Maybe it's time for me to stop ignoring it any longer ... I can develop a HUGE outsourcing business with competent and qualified partners in the USA and other developed countries who will do the sales/marketing work in their respective countries, and we can offer ALL kinds of programming. So if anyone want to go into the outsourcing business with me, I already have the programmers and the facilities here in the Philippines -- all I need is the partners somewhere else. If you are convinced that you can get "more programming jobs than you can handle", even if it means slashing your prices in half and becoming more of a salesman than a programmer from now on, then you're well on your way (conceptually at least) to becoming wealthy by partnering with me in the offshore programming services business. Let me know (privately) if you're interested, thanks. -- Kenneth Grome ------------------------------------------------------------- This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list .
