texte = Greg,What was done to Sitebuilder isn't a patch ... we basically completelyrewrote all aspects of administering the look & feel, content, navigation, and security of a WebDNA website. I agree that we do nowneed to focus some attention on making the eCommerce aspects ofadministration more robust. Given the time we had available, mostpeople we spoke to were able to use the existing eCommerce capabilities, but found the old Storebuilder almost useless as a framework forcreating their own custom sites. So we attacked the areas that ourcustomers were telling us needed the most attention. The other new piece in Sitebuilder that we haven't really discussed isthat the content administration is all database driven, i.e., there's aconcept of 'packages' of functionality, and when you create a newSitebuilder based website, you basically tell it what 'package' it is,and thus what functionality will be available in the administrativearea. Why is this important? If you as a WebDNA developer want to useSiteBuilder as a 'framework' for deploying your own custom solutions, you can customize the content of these 'packages' and deploy them overand over. If you want your allow customers to pay you a fee to'upgrade' from one package to another without starting over, you simplychange the 'package' of the website and the additional features justshow up in your client's admin. If you have some feedback after using the new SiteBuilder, I'd be happyto look at your suggestions for future enhancements =20Phil B.=20-----Original Message-----From: WebDNA Talk [mailto:WebDNA-Talk@talk.smithmicro.com] On Behalf OfGregg LuhringSent: Friday, February 27, 2004 7:26 AMTo: WebDNA TalkSubject: Re: SitebuilderSorry about this but it seems like what you're saying is that basicallyit's the same big confusing mess that it's grown into over the years butyou added more stuff to make it more confusing? The sitebuilder badly needs a replacement, not more patches please.Greggon 2/26/04 at 4:12 PM pbonesteele@smithmicro.com (Phillip Bonesteele)wrote:-->>The major changes in SiteBuilder were in the overall site layout,=20>navigation, and 'built-in' Intranet functionality, while the basic=20>WebMerchant pieces did't change much.
