We pass a county code from page to page which calls up an entire series of variables associated with any given county: which election, and all of its criteria status of certain display variables to control which sections are active Primary, general or special election election date (can be different for each county, during spring special elections) etc. These are from both a preferences file as well as a search against a county file for county-specific values. On election night our traffic is in the multi-hundreds of thousands of hits in a few hours; over the election week, depending on the election, 3- 10 million hits are not unusual.
