The Admin app is nice, but it's more of a monitoring tool than anything else and certainly not worth $500...We happen to need file sharing, since all our developers are on Macs, so Server 2.0 is worthwhile for us.Use webmin or iTools 6, available for 10 Server 2.0 shortly. There are small differences on the Server 2.0 apache rev (caching mostly), but that is easily replaced with Squid if you need it, and is included in iTools.Another thing to beware of on OSX in general is a performance issue under heavy traffic. If you have heavy webcat pages, you can expect MASSIVE slowdowns (at least up through 10.0.4 and webcat 4.0.2rc2pre). My benchmarks comparing webcat on OSX and Linux show Linux being an order of magnitude faster with 10 concurrent users: i.e. 10 seconds vs 100 seconds average serve time! I will post a more complete report shortly (I was on vacation last week, or it would be done already).I'm seriously considering a switch to Linux instead of OSX from our Webstar 4.4 server due to this particular issue. SMSI blames the OS as the bottleneck, which may be entirely possible. Does anyone else know of a multithreaded app that runs on both OSX and Linux that can be easily tested for similar behavior?Good luck.-Dale -- Dale LaFountain mailto:dalel@darkhorse.com Vice President of Information Technology, Webmaster Dark Horse Comics, Inc.
