Personally I think the approach should be to plan for the long term (or) future growth of the WebDNA "language" by creating two separate products entirely. A (low cost, even free version) fully functioning WebDNA engine to support, develop and distribute the "language" itself (bait) and a separate commerce package for developing commercial products or solutions and supporting the development, (hook).Sounds silly I know, but I don't see any other options for sustaining the language in the long run. Seems to be the current trend toward developing solutions around widely distributed and available solutions (like PHP/MySQL, for example) are gaining in popularity.hahaha ... but then again, I'm the guy who's still waiting for Apple to dominate the PC market?!? : c)-----Original Message-----From: WebDNA Talk [mailto:WebDNA-Talk@talk.smithmicro.com]On Behalf OfTimur RubanSent: Monday, December 06, 2004 6:30 AMTo: WebDNA TalkSubject: Re: How long until WebDNA makes the list? :(Personally, I think it's a positioning issue that SmithMicro needs to address (and maybe hire a true Branding/Marketing guru). Is this a middleware? An in-memory database? A development platform? An application with scripting capabilities? I am sure that all of you, as I am, have to deal daily with this when offering clients solutions on the platform - resellers/developers' efforts are not enough though to get the product on the industry lists...But then again - why are you worried? Less competition for you to take over the client or hack the product once everything is developed :)) Everything in this world has its pros and cons.Cheers,TimTimur RubanExecutive VPFRONTEX705 North Mountain RoadNewington, CT 061111-888-FRONTEX x701-----Original Message-----From: Gary Krockover <gary@garykrockover.com>To: "WebDNA Talk" <WebDNA-Talk@talk.smithmicro.com>Date: Mon, 06 Dec 2004 08:31:57 -0600Subject: How long until WebDNA makes the list? :(First, I looked for it here:http://www.levenez.com/lang/history.htmlwhich led to this more comprehensive list here:http://people.ku.edu/~nkinners/LangList/Extras/langlist.htmHow long until I can buy the book and find WebDNA on the list ofcomputer languages?:(Happy Monday all!GK-------------------------------------------------------------This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list <WebDNA-Talk@talk.smithmicro.com>.To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <WebDNA-Talk-off@talk.smithmicro.com>To switch to the DIGEST mode, E-mail to<WebDNA-Talk-digest@talk.smithmicro.com>Web Archive of this list is at: http://webdna.smithmicro.com/-------------------------------------------------------------This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list <WebDNA-Talk@talk.smithmicro.com>.To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <WebDNA-Talk-off@talk.smithmicro.com>To switch to the DIGEST mode, E-mail to <WebDNA-Talk-digest@talk.smithmicro.com>Web Archive of this list is at: http://webdna.smithmicro.com/-------------------------------------------------------------This message is sent to you because you are subscribed to the mailing list <WebDNA-Talk@talk.smithmicro.com>.To unsubscribe, E-mail to: <WebDNA-Talk-off@talk.smithmicro.com>To switch to the DIGEST mode, E-mail to <WebDNA-Talk-digest@talk.smithmicro.com>Web Archive of this list is at: http://webdna.smithmicro.com/
