The issue that I see is that we have no good way to include the license (without giving away the candy store) in the AMI without time spent in creating unique WebDNA builds. The creation of Unique WebDNA builds (that have the lic. embeded) is a fine idea, but we have too many more important priorities to take care of first. The DE version would be fully functional, would include a configured imageMagick, unique function libraries for extensibility (we have recently completed an imageMagick function library that makes manipulating images a breeze), and any other goodies that you guys would suggest. We would then not make any money off of of this model. In other words, we would charge per instance the same as what we would pay to Amazon. Then, if a user wants to go live with any of their solutions, they would need to buy their license desired (per instance) from our store. Chris and I talked about ideas to be able to offer all our product editions by default as a service only, but it is just not doable as far as we can tell at this time. For example, someone could rent an enterprise instance for an hour and go home with a $895 lic. What are you opinions here? Would fully configured DE servers be a good start?
