texte = DougI sort of was afraid of Doug's answer that the licensing would be like this. Please let me explain why. While I am very existed about the core features of the new 5.x version, which we really need, there is not much use, either for me nor my customers, for the add ons that SMSI is providing with the Enterprise Edition of 5.x.We have build over the years our own CMS, Calendar, Shop, etc., templates around the WebDNA language. The development environment for each customer is a nice feature, BUT our customers are users and not developers and if they would be developers then I would urge them to buy a developer edition to develop in-house and not on my live server.Another point that you should really consider is that there are many developers that have many sub-domains just to host different versions of their applications. My company alone has 5 sub-domains with different versions, like redakto.computeroil.com, beta.computeroil.com and so on.With your licensing model you are putting on us a limitation for such a thing that has been given to us for the already paid 3495$ (Version 3.x) the 1000$ (Upgrade to Version 4.x) and now a upgrade to Version 5.x for 2995$ !Looking at it from this way, really does make your arguments not so strong and attractive. Now for all that I wrote I suggest another solution to your pricing matrix, one that would make me and I am sure other developers satisfied.Make a unlimited Version of your Partner and Commerce Edition! There are people like me that donıt need extra templates for customers that are featured in the Enterprise Edition, I simply need to serve my templates that are coded with WebDNA, nothing else!>From my experience my customers never want any limitation on our products. So I also had to come up with a unlimited version of our products. Since then, honestly I am only able to sell unlimited versions.I for sure would immediately buy a unlimited version of the commerce or partner edition (since we donıt need any special shopping tags anymore) for a upgrade price of 1000$ or a first time price of the old 1995$.When one of our customers has a big projects with many websites (domains) that covers more then 5 domains we just tell them to get the unlimited version. We make more money and the customer is happy to get a product with no limitation.Anyhow, I hope you get the point and know what I mean. In the end we all have to upgrade to version 5.x because it has many exiting new features, but to put upon us a domain limitation is very discouraging. Or to put it this way, to shell out another 3000$ for a upgrade from 4.5 to 5.x for 10 new tags is a LOT of money!Sincerely, Nitai Aventaggiato CEO On 2/25/03 10:57 PM, Doug Deck wrote:> > There has been some confusion surrounding the licensing for WebDNA Partner > and Commerce Editions of 5.0.
