Not to burst any one's bubble, but almost every other major main stream language (PHP, Ruby on Rails, Perl) can do all the above and most have functions that make that process fairly simple. [shell] isn't unique. [applescript] is, but I would assert that you can do more with [shell] than with [applescript]. I'll stay out of the Windows portion since I know nothing about that. > About classes at University, WebDNA is the perfect candidate for a > student or a group a students for their "year student work". Just out of curiosity, have you taken any computer science courses at a college? They don't repeat themselves each year, that's for sure. My program went Java I, Intro to Syntax and the Java Language to Java 2, Intro to Algorithms, and then the third year got into all other kinds of courses such as a Assembly, Software Development, Database Design, etc. Most computer science programs are more about engineering than about learning a specific language. I don't think there's enough in WebDNA to teach an entire semester course on it if a developer can pick it up in a week of reading through the docs. > Finally, making hosting providers widely accept WebDNA will depends > on the demand they get from their customers. A version that didn't take down the server every few months would make a big impact here. Or a version that ran on modern operating systems... We're having a struggle because we have to maintain an out of date Red Hat box to continue to host our WebDNA sites.
